Thanks, Doug and Paul, for the advice and encouragement. I fixed the problem wiht the R2400 and my monitor. Tried several things, but what did the trick was adjusting the color management and the profile. I had color management on in PS while I also was using ABW. I realized (thanks to a note on the Outbackphoto site) that I needed to turn off color mgt in PS if I was using ABW. This made the print significantly darker, much closer to the screen. I can now tweak the settings in ABW to optimize further, I guess. For the color, I switched from the Best Photo to the Photo RPM profiles (using the Epson Premium Semigloss) and that seemed to make a big difference with respect to the color saturation. I am now getting in print what I got on the monitor, allowing for the inherent differences in paper and screen. (You don't care about the color, sorry, but it's encouraging....) To answer Doug's question, I am using Gamma 2.2 -- have heard different things from different people on this issue, but many seem to recommend 2.2. So for color I am letting PS do the color management, turning color management off in the printer driver, and for B/W I am doing the opposite: letting the printer do its thing and turning the color mgt off in PS. Is this what others are doing (if you are doing both on the R2400)? Can't wait to try this with some scans of my older B/W images!
