My 1280 was used (I now suspect pretty heavily) with dye inks before I acquired it and switched it over to UT2; from anecdotal evidence, it seems that heavy dye usage may sometimes prove problematic. Or not. I didn't mean to imply that many others had encountered troubles with that setup; if your experience is more typical, the spongeless setup should function with minimal issues - the carts are really easy to use, and it is a cost-effective solution that produces beautiful prints when it works correctly. (I took another shot at cleaning it as thoroughly as I dared this weekend; I may give it another shot yet. At least I can now use dye inks again!) Best wishes - Eric
