Yea, it does sound like a defective ink cart. If you haven't had an
problems with other cart sizes recently, it probably isn't a  hole in
the line. I have heard of carts leaking leaking like this. You might
want to call them and ask for a quick response. If it is leaking send
it back and ask them for an overnight replacment.

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
