RE: [Digital BW] Printing UT inks on R200

2005-09-16 by John Moody

Ted,
I am using the MIS carts with sponges. The spongeless is not available yet.

I am running UT7, except using FS-Y (very light black) rather than sepia for
dotless highlights. So I can't tone with sepia, which is fine for me.

I am running Eboni for matte prints. For glossy I get better Dmax and tone
control by mixing the two dark gray inks together.

You need QTR now, or you can wait for Paul Roark to come up with R200 inks
that work with the Epson driver.

If you have a spectro like an Eye-one pro, then QTR would be well worth
trying out. If not, I would wait for Paul, but that's just me.

Best regards,
John Moody

G;day

I'm running UT7+FS-Y in an R200, and just got a Dmax of 2.38 and the lab-b
axis exactly where I want it on Kodak professional luster, using QTR.

I am about to purchase an R200 and would like to use bulk MIS inks so have
some questions for you John.

1. Which cartridges are you using? On the MIS web site it looks like the
only cartridges available are the sponge type.

2. Which inks are you using in the UT7 set? The R200 is only a six-ink
printer. Also, do you use Eboni for the black?

3. Is it necessary to use QTR and produce curves or is it possible to use
the epson driver? I don't have QTR yet.

Thanks for any information...

Best,

Ted
