Digital BW, The Print

Printing with UC inks on an Epson 2200.

What causes the horizontal bands I see in solid black areas on large 17x11 prints I'm making? It is independent of paper (using EEM and Kayenta) and how the print is generated (ie., BO, QTR, direct from PS).

The are about 1" in width and are more evident when the light hits the paper a certain way. It appears that this area is particularly damp after printing so a lot of ink is being applied here. 

Do these bands tend to disappear as the paper dries?

Under glass this might be less noticable but I'm not sure yet.
