Digital BW, The Print

I recently purchased some Ilford Heavyweight Matte paper to us to print 
some B&W photos I have been working on. I printed one using the Ilford 
profile, and it came oout with what looks like a very slight magenta 
tint to it, so I decided to bypass the PS color management and use the 
Advanced Black and White mode in the Epson driver. I have had good luck 
with ABW on Epson papers so far. When I printed the photo using Printer 
Color Management in PS and ABW Dark Best Photo set in the Epson driver, 
I get what I guess is banding in the picture that was not in the photo 
printed with the Ilford driver. There are visible lines running across 
the print. The best I can describe it looks like I printed the photo on 
canvas, but this is the Ilford Heavyweight Matte paper. The tint is 
gone, but the lines are not acceptable.

Does anyone have any idea what might be causing this?
