Steve, Well, as I said in an earlier post, the Epson profiles (whether made by Logo, Seiko Epson, or X-rite) are probably made with top-of-the-line gear and software than most normal people can afford. I've used a Colormouse and and i1Pro to make printer profiles, and tried to improve them with DoctorPro, but it is not an easy matter to get a good profile, and the 'experts' say that one profile that is good at everything is an impossibility. Too many assumptions and subjective decisions have to be made in the profile-making software. So I suspect that having an expert at Logo or X-rite making and tweaking a profile to meet Epson's requirements, is probably going to be better than you or I can do. So if we can simply recalibrate our printers to match theirs, life should be simpler and better. "The proof of the pudding is in the eating", so we'll see!
