Re: [Digital BW] Epson 2200 with UT7 - OR - Epson 2400 with factory inks

2005-10-04 by Elwood Spedden

I have used the 2200 with MIS UT 7 inks and found it
to be quite good. Paul's curves gives you a great many
options for various tonal desires.

However I just purchased an R2400 and would not want
to go back. Quite simply, the ease with which a good
B&W print can be made, complete with full toning
options is just too good to pass up. Plus you have
what is undoubtedly the best color printer made yet by
Epson (I am talking about color quality and not
comparing the R2400 with upper end products like the
4800 and 7800)

I Have made many fine prints with the 2200 using both
UT 7, and the UC inks with Eboni MK. I used both
Imageprint and QTR RIPs. It can be done for certain.

Let the budget decide!

Hope this helps

At the risk of asking question that's been covered
before, has anyone
compared an Epson 2200 using MIS UT7 inks with an
Epson 2400 using
Epson inks? More specifically, I hear that folks are
really pleased
with the 2400's capabability with B&W, but I already
have the 2200 and
I'd rather avoid the added expense of a new printer if
I can avoid it.
Additionally, I generally print on mat papers.

If there are threads that discuss these two
combinations specifically,
please point me there, or share your personal
experiences.

Thank you,
Robert Ades
