Since the matte black for the 2200 is identical to the
2400 there is no difference in DMax. I got somewhat
better DMax from Eboni than with the epson mk with the
2200 and will try it with the 2400 when MIS makes it
available.
The dmax for pk is significantly better than the old
pk. One of the reasons for the enhanced color prints
is attributible to this. Both premium luster and
premium semi-gloss produce very good prints.
The addition of the LLK ink produces outstanding
tonality throughout the range. It takes some work to
get it "right" but not nearly as much as with the 2200
and MIS. In the end, both are capable of fine prints
with an edge to the 2400 and no contest for ease of
use.
I print almost exclusively on Photo Rag and Museo (and
now also Museo II).
I have never used the R1800 so no help there.
Hope this helps

Using mat paper, can you be more specific about how
the two printer
setups compare in image quality with B&W? For
instance, is the dMax
different? How about the tonal rendition and the
shadow detail?
Secondarily, with color, and again on mat paper, have
you compared
your new 2400 with the 1800?
Thank you,
