Sanders; Start calling around to various labs and maybe some of the larger studios (those who do catalogue usually had their own processing and printing). Many who had 5x7 enlargers would have had a Durst Laborator 138 . . . an extraordinary enlarger. Try to find one with as many bits and pieces as possible (i.e neg carrier and inserts, condensers, and or colourhead), as they are hard to find on the used market and I doubt that Durst makes them anymore, but this piece of equipment and it's accessories was expensive (with a capital E). Having said that, the reason I suggest it is because there are frequently excellent deals on the used market. When I had a custom darkroom built in my basement I had a Durst DA900 (new) with coldlight and a used 138 that was bought for $500 at a bankruptcy auction (less lenses) . . . I saved thousands on the price of a new one and was not worried about wear and tear because all of the Durst gear is built like a tank. Oh yeah, you will need a strong back and perhaps a small truck to move one . . . it is a floor standing unit about seven feet tall. good luck p.s. I no longer have a "darkroom" and no, I don't have any of the gear left hiding in my garage or under the bed. >Greetings, all. >I am looking for a 5x7 enlarger -- preferably in or near New York City. >Are >there any digital converts out there who would like to see their old beast >off to a new owner who will give it a productive new life?
