Ah, but I have had to omit Paul's curves from the workflow in order to get
unposterised prints, and in the process have lost control over the tint.

This is not a complaint, merely a statement of fact. If a change of driver
can void a custom profile, then different flavours of Windows, with their
different drivers, may well mean that Paul's curves do not work optimally on
every system. Sadly, the Epson Quick Draw drivers are not the most logical
way of controlling the CMYK channels of the printer, and curve tweaking is
therefore tedious. For the present I am very happy with my solution.
