Digital BW, The Print

Has anyone seen the new issue of "Entertainment" magazine? (the  
"photo issue featuring cameron diaz).....It has lots of B/W shots  
that have a retro vibe. The grain in the photos looks odd to me, and  
I am wondering if they are digital captures with an added grain  
effect. Do you experts who capture digitally ever add grain to the  
image before printing? If so, with which plug-in?....I think that my  
prints from my Dslr are maybe too grainless for some kinds of  
shots.....Thanks for any advice!, Doug m
