Hello Micky, >I am having problems with colour casts when I try to print B/W >prints. I am using a Canon i6500 printer and used various papers >without solving the problem. >I would appreciate any advice on sorting out the problem The problem you describe is very common. Most printers that try to make BW images using color inks have the same problem. Up until recently it has required special 3rd party driver software called a RIP to control the color inks in the special way that is required to do good BW. The other alternative has been to use special grayscale inks, but that requires dedicating the printer to BW only. Unfortunately for you, I don't think any of the special inks or software are made for Canon printers (someone else correct me if this is wrong). But things are changing. This past summer Epson released some new printers that can do excellent BW with their new K3 color inks (color plus 3 blacks), so it's the first time we've had really good BW "out of the box" without requiring extra inks or software. Unfortunately, again, this doesn't solve your problem with the i6500. But I'm using one of the new Epsons, the R2400 which is the 13" model, and can vouch for it's making beautiful BW prints. They are a bit pricey ($849) but easy to use and worth every cent if you're serious about good BW. All of the above things are described in more detail in some articles on the web site below, including one about using the 2400. I hope this is helpful.
