Is anybody using the piezography ICC system with a 1280? I have tried MIS UT2 variable tone with QTR and it was reasonably satisfactory except the high values are grainier than I would like. I am contemplating trying the UT2-FS-neutral inks which i understand would be somewhat smoother in the high print values. I don't think there are QTR curves for this ink, though, and I don't have a reflection densitometer to do my own linearization. I had poor luck with Paul's curves when i tried them on UT2 variable (poor shadow separation). I didn't want to play with the curves without some form of objective measurement, so i tried QTR with more convenient results for me. The promotional material for piezography ICC/1280 suggests that it prints highlights with better apparent resolution and less apparent 'grain' (dither?) than other methods. The sample colors on screen look reasonably good, with the neutral being slightly warmer than I'd like, and the neutral-cool a bit cooler than I'd like, but i could probably live with them. Any first hand experience to share? thanks ted g
