Hi, I am using the MIS EZ Tone Eboni black ink, along with the MIS 7600 color inks, to make black and white prints with the Epson C86. As per Paul's instructions in our discussion about print contrast some time ago (http://groups.yahoo.com/group/DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint/message/65921), I have unselected the "blank ink only" box in the printer driver settings so as to use the "color" inks. I am printing with the C86-EZ_EEM_L50_G22_Br-5_Con-5.acv curve and have the printer driver settings set accordingly with respect to brightness, contrast, and gamma. The sliders for saturation and the three colors are all set to 0. The images I'm printing were scanned from Tri-x. I am not embedding any profile in the print, and have converted it to pure grayscale. With this approach, I end up with a slight color cast. When using the Epson Enhanced Matte paper, the cast is sort of, well, reddish. It's not that the print has a warm tone. It's that it looks slightly, but very noticably, red, or perhaps peach colored. Am I doing something wrong? Is there something to be done? Thanks! --Phil
