Hi Mark; I've had this happen a couple times, usually replacing the chip with a new one will fix it. Don't know why, perhaps static buildup on your hands? BTW I assume when you say you 'switched the carts around' you put in another LC cart, yes? The only other thing I can thing of is that the chip fell off and on the way way out the prong that positions it on the cart snagged a couple of the contacts in the printer? if that's the case, you may as well start the Epson process, or if you don't have OEM carts, toss the printer and buy a new one, it's probaly cheaper than putting Epson ink in it.
