Yes it is more expensive. The list of reasons as to why it's worth it over the 1280 is likely quite long but to highlight a couple of key reasons: 1. The B&W out of the box with Epson Adv B&W is really very good and likely to satisfy 90% of people. 2. It's ease of use is simply sublime. 3. It's colour output is superb also. So B&W and colour, easily done with the same ink set. 4. It will undoubtedly, mechanically and driver-wise, serve as a better platform for moving beyond the OEM solution should you desire more. Only you can assess the economics of your own situation but I'd think carefully as to whether another older printer was being penny wise and pound foolish. > From: Drury <ideo@...> > Reply-To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Date: Thu, 12 Jan 2006 21:14:19 -0800 > To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> > Conversation: Epson r1800 replaces 1280? > Subject: [Digital BW] Re: Epson r1800 replaces 1280? > > Steve, > Would really like to hear why the 2400 is the one to get.
