You might want to be careful with a refurbished 1160. I've seen two
that came direct from Epson, and, well, one was a positive fright. I
think they wiped the cover with a damp cloth and passed it. It
looked, um, furry inside<g>. The second wasn't too bad, but you could
tell it had had some kind of quad ink running pretty regularly through
it. You may or may not inherit someone else's problem.

OTOH, many folks are satisfied with refurbs. Maybe it's just the
latest crop- sort of like Musical chairs. Or maybe I'm too sensitive
to possible problems, having had more than my share.

I currently have an 1160 that I've had in storage for 8 months. Then I
used it for two months with MIS VM and a nomorecarts CIS. I shut it
off for two weeks with the room at 20%RH, and the magenta now won't
clear 5-8 steps in the nozzle check. I briefly got it working with
injecting into nozzle followed by installing Epson carts. I had to run
the full cart to clear it though, and clog came back upon
re-installing CIS. Then using MIS cleaning carts, prefilled MIS VM
carts after that never gave a clear nozzle check. I'm suspecting that
the CIS lacks a 1 micron screen in the carts but anything is up for
grabs.

My local tech is going to give me a verdict on what can be fixed for
what cost. Generally figure about $100 for a printhead clean/inject or
maybe $200-$270 for a head replacement. Rough idea.

There's a possibility I'd sell the printer to you, as is. You'd have
to deal with the magenta perma-clog, it might not be worth it, but at
least you'd get a very low mileage 1160, very clean except the typical
black ink thrown into the right corner. If interested, contact me with
an offer. I'm in western USA.
