Digital BW, The Print

Hi Tom & Frank,

In my experience with Nikon Capture 4.4, any TIFF or
JPEG file can be converted to black & white, including
those with layer adjustments added with Photoshop as
well as in 16 bit mode.
The only difference is that you won't be able to use
many of the functions that are specific to NEF files
from the nikon cameras (don't know about the
scanners). I do it almost every day, finding it simple
and fast to use with great results. You can always
fine-tune in Photoshop as well. Do keep in mind the
fact that you can only use NEF, TIFF or JPEG files...
no PSDs or EPS.
