Re: [Digital BW] Swapping Cartridges

2006-02-22 by Helen Adams

Hi Pierre-Olivier,

I will experiment and see what happens. I just discovered the wealth of information written by Paul Roark on using MIS R2 inks with the R220 plus info on paper and settings and everything else (somehow I managed to miss this page) - so this should keep me busy for a while.

All the best - Helen

I am using a R220 but to make digital negs. I tried to use it to make photos but it never matched my monitor. I also use a 1280 that makes beautiful prints. I do not consider the R220 as a color photo printer. I think for B&W, it should do fine. In color, i'm getting a magenta cast. I tried to tune it up, but could not get a satisfying result.

Thanks for all your help on here, it has proved invaluable. I finally ordered an R220 and the MIS-U2 inks both of which I am waiting for. I was looking in the list of posts for one post in which someone mentioned swapping color to b&w cartridges and keeping the unused set in plastic wrap, though I might have misread this. Is this possible, as there may be some swapping to and fro between ink sets at first. Although I intend to dedicate the R220 to black & white I want to use the color cartridges that come with it to see how the color prints compare to my current printer, as I may get another R220 if they are really good.

Which is the best brand of paper to start off with? I have ordered the Ebony cartridge for matte papers.

    Many thanks - Helen
