Thanks for the lengthy explanation.
I assume one has to go through the full reading of ICC specs. Though I 
strongly doubt if I do so, I'll ever come any close to the 
understanding not being a mathematician either (reason why I was hoping 
to have someone explain me the process in an everyday wording).

It's frustrating to click on the mouse without understanding what's 
on...!
