I tried it a few months ago with 4 A3+ tiles just to see what my work looked like bigger before I shelled out for a bigger printer. It's a devil to get such a precise cut that they fit together perfectly. But even when cut perfectly you can't hide the joins when taped from behind or stuck down on a large sheet. If you want it to look unjoined - it won't. So, my suggestion is that your son's idea is right - if you must do it then make a feature of the window panes.
