QTR group DEAD???

2006-03-07 by Johnny Eades

I sure l hope not because it is such a great source for all types of
learning dealing with BW photography, and from such a collection of
knowledgeable people. I've just purchased a Colorvision PrintFixPro
suite which includes the Spyder2Pro and a Spectrocolorimeter (?) which
has now taken the place of my older X-Rite 810 densitometer. Now I do need
to learn the procedure for using it and the software to create QTR
curves for the two papers I use most. In the past I have made earnest
efforts to produce the curves with the 810 but have not been
successfull in improving on the canned profiles so graciously provided
by Roy for my 1280 under XP.It isn't quite as easy to operate as the
810 because when placed on a square to read, the body of the
instrument partially obscures my vision of the reading spot. I'll need
to find a method to enlarge the calibration squares produced by QTR to
move past this stumbling block for me. Any suggestions will be
appreciated and noted. My first efforts for my BW with the new device
produced a
darker resulting image than the canned profiles and also than the ones
produced with the 810 reading procedure.

Johnny
