What seemed to have been a promising start to my quad printing experience has developed into a nightmare. The 1160 has continually flashing lights for the power and paper feed and a continuous light for the ink. Everything is 'jammed. The carriage is stuck on the right and I cant move it left manually to check if it's all ok in there. I have tried the reset by: removing the usb, powering on while holding down the ink and paper feed buttons, releasing them when the lights start flashing (about 5 sec), and then pressing the paper feed once - it doesnt work. Here's the history: I ran nozzle checks, head allignment checks and print checks with the original Epson carts installed. ok. Then the MIS CIS kit arrived and I took out the Epson carts and filled the CIS with the quad inks and set it aside to stand overnight. When I went back to it this morning I found that I had to call MIS about some missing components in the kit, and while discussing the install steps, he said I should not have left the epson carts out all night as the print heads could dry (stupid me!). I should replace them and be absolutely sure the nozzle check pattern is still ok before installing the CIS. Needless to say the nozzle check was not good - I ran several cleaning cycles and nozzle checks. Clearly (dont mind the pun) there was a major clog or something amiss. I also tried printing the purge pattern which had major white horizontal lines across the 3 colors and no black. I did this for hours. I left it to rest while I tried to 'cool off' and I came back to find the scenario that I described above in the first paragraph. Now I cant even do a utility test. Unfortunately I bought a used unit on ebay and there's no transferable (person to person) warranty from epson. Can anyone pull a rabbit out of a hat for me ? thanks frankg
