Hi Joe, I just saw this message today and just in case you haven't had a fix yet I thought I'd respond. I lost my system32 folder as the result of virus activity on my machine. Of course it's still there, just invisible, otherwise you couldn't use your computer. Anyway, what I did successfully on my Windows XP machine was: 1. Go to Control Panel/Folder Options/View and make sure "Show hidden files and folders" is checked. This may resolve the issue but probably won't if the folder just suddenly up and left. 2. Go to Start/Run and when the dialogue box comes up type "cmd" or if that doesn't work "command" (without the quotes, of course) and when the DOS window comes up, type: "attrib -a -h -r -s c:\windows\system32" (again without the quotes and note the space in front of each "-" ), press <Return> and type "Exit" (no quotes) to close the DOS window, and up she pops. Please note again that this problem may have been caused by a virus or worm, and you should take all steps to ensure your computer is clean. [Apart from being off topic, I'm always embarrassed to be discussing this sort of thing in front of Macintosh people. :>) I mean, fancy having to use DOS after all this time!] Regards, Geoff Meadows Subject: [Digital BW] A bit off topic - System32 folder in Windows XP - GONE! I was going to load some profiles and my system32 folder has mysteriously disappeard? I did a search and it does not find it. It must be there.......any thoughts? This seems crazy to me. Joe
