I've had great success resurrecting a 4 colour epson 660s, I took the case off, unclipped the cart mounts so they were loose (including the head), just fastened on with the cable, then used the big syringe with a bit of larger diameter tube (I actually used some plastic insulation tube for electric cables, pushed onto the end of the rubber hose MIS supplies for pressure testing) on it to shoot hot water directly into the cart nozzle spike things until I could see a fine and even stream coming out the head. Lots of kitchen towel on hand mind. Conceivably you could do it without removing the heads, but I preferred to be able to see what I was doing a bit better, and you can tell when its clear. I first tried the procedure on my 1290 though, because I inadvertantly siphoned an entire 4oz bottle of photo cyan through it when I first got my CIS (half a bottle of yellow too, hmm)... All the ink nozzles and the non-stick head and the little cleaning sponge and the outward feed system were all saturated and covered in blue ink, so I had to do a really comprehensive clean on it. I now know that the waste ink reservoirs on these things are more than sufficient though :) I'm using MIS's standard CIS and epson style colour inks with varying results. But, I do find that if I haven't used the printer for a day, the ink in the tubes leading to the cart recedes a bit, so theres an air bubble just in front of the right-angle fitting. Its only ever an inch or so long, and once I start printing, it'll get sucked back into the cart. Is this normal or does it signal an imperfect seal? I can't help but think that the carts themselves are getting progressively more and more empty, not quite getting topped right up to their full level. Do I have cause for concern? sandy @ www.euphy.co.uk ----- Original Message ----- From: <shashinka@...> To: <DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com> Sent: Saturday, January 12, 2002 5:44 AM Subject: Re: [Digital BW] 1160 disaster - can anyone help ? > > In a message dated 1/11/02 11:10:37 PM, steadmanuhlich@... writes: > > << Otherwise..good luck ...and don't leave the carts out too long...ouch. > > Steadman >> > > I am testing an 1160 which had its carts out for a month.
