Sharpening for printing on watercolor paper

2006-03-30 by brianechapman

Hey everyone,

I'm wondering what relative levels of sharpening people are using when
they're printing on watercolor paper or photo rag versus a lightjet or
something like that...have you found a need for more sharpening to
acheive the same perceived sharpness? the same?

The reason I ask is because I don't have access to an inexpensive way
to do trial and error prints so I'd like to get closer to the 'best'
level of sharpening prior to ordering some prints. I've ordered a
couple 12x12 prints from ctphoto.com and while I think the quality is
excellent on their side I believe I can do better in the preparation
to improve the final result.

I should add that I'm familiar with the various sharpening methods,
etc, so I'm not asking for a tutorial or anything like that :)

Thanks, Brian
