Re: 1280 Continuous Feed -- Spongeless vs "spongeful"

2006-04-03 by Bob Marsolais

I am assuming you are talking about a continuous ink system (CIS)
where you attach ink bottles to the printer. If so, have you
considered that a set of refillable spongeless cartridges is $10
from MIS (www.inksupply.com)? Unless you are doing a LOT of
printing using the same inkset exclusively, you might want to
consider whether the extra cost of a purchasing a continuous feed
ink system is worth it considering you are giving up the ease of
changing inksets from color to B&W and back in munites? You can buy
4 sets of carts for $40, one fifth the cost of a CIS.

About the sponge vs. spongless issue, I'd definatately go with the
spongless carts. After repeated fillings, the sponge type can trap
tiny air bubbles in the sponges that lead to empty jets in your
prints. After a while, the best thing is to throw out the carts and
start using fresh ones. I've never had this problem with spongless
carts.

That's one person's opinion!

I switch back and forth between MISPRO color and UT2 B&W inks. I
could not be happier. (That is, unless I didn't
