Digital BW, The Print

I've been usiong the 2200 for BO with Eboni Black. I wanted to try
some test prints on Epson Semigloss and a few other non-matte
surfaces. This leaves me, as I see it, 2 options:

  1-Leave in the Eboni Black and print choosing Enh Matte as the media
type.
  2-Putting in some other (which one?) black cartridge that will let
printer know I want some options other than Matte papers for media-type.

   What do you folks do in a situation like this? Am I missing other
options?

  I'm also not quite sure just how much changing the media type
affects the final print. I always thought its main effect was to
adjust the amount of ink layed down.
