Digital BW, The Print

Hey all I have been away from the group for a couple years getting my masters, but  I am 
back and looking forward to firing up the printer and making some prints.

 I am wondering what I have missed over the last few years. Is there away to get a neutral BW 
print using a 4000 and Epson inks, or do you still have to use Image Print or some other third 
party rip? 

Also about the time I disappeared there was a lot of experimenting with different print 
Coating methods. What's going on in that arena?
