Re: [Digital BW] New member introduction and first problem

2006-06-26 by Brian Ellis

This kind of things was a constant problem for me when I used UT7 inks in my
2200 and continues to be a problem with the MIS Eboni black that I continued
to use after I switched everything else from MIS to Epson inks. Just a week
or so ago I had to return three Eboni cartridges because they didn't fit
properly in the printer. Have you tried installing an Epson LM cartidge to
see what happens?

I think MIS is a good company and I always received help promptly but their
suppliers' quality control leaves a lot to be desired. My suggestion would
be to switch to Epson inks, maybe keeping Eboni for the black position only
depending on whether you think the slightly improved dMax is worth the
potential problems, and using QTR for your black and white work. You'll get
prints at least as good IMHO as UT7 with none of the MIS hassle. I wouldn't
throw away your UT7 inks without at least trying to return them for a
credit. MIS was always good about giving me credit for defective inks and
there are plenty of other things that they sell for which you could use the
credit.

Subject: [Digital BW] New member introduction and first problem

Hello, I am a new member and I wish to say hi to you all. I have an
Epson 2200 printer that I am attempting to use MIS UT7 inks with. I
also have an Epson 2200 dedicated to color printing. The UT7 inks are
wonderful but, when the LM position from my initial purchase of
cartridges ran out the replacement LM cart could not be recognized by
the printer. A solid red light in the LM position comes on and stays
on. I took the LM cart from the color printer and inserted it and the
lights did a flashing dance back and forth and the printer came ready.
When I put the UT7 LM cart back in I just get the solid red light. I
have been in contact with MIS tech support for over a month now trying
to get this fixed. I have reset the carts and printer many times, I
have replaced the chip (new sent from MIS) and I have put another new
LM cart in with no change in symptom. Have any of you had similar
experiences that you have solved and if so will you please share the
solution with me? Thanks, I am really keen on B&W printing and this is
driving me nuts; I am on the verge of throwing out a couple of hundred
dollars worth of UT7 ink.
