They seem to be durable printers with dots that are a bit larger than the
modern ones.  The MIS FS/N setup worked well in it.

Yes, but it's a bit of a hassle.  Most of the inks would be compatible, but
Eboni (MIS MK) does not like dye.

That would be the most compatible, but I've seen no problems between the MIS
inks and Epson pigments.

I rinse off the outlets with a syringe that is kept full of water.  Then I
tape the outlet.  You don't want things to dry out.

The R220 is about the best small printer made.  It's not only an excellent
starter with the UT-R2 inkset, but it's also an excellent one for making
proofs for larger B&W printers.  You'll note the new UT-3D inkset was first
on the 220.  It's the printer I use daily.
