Hello Lee, >I just noticed that you would not have gone through a single 4800 >cart in the year you've had the 2400, and the big advantage of the >4800 over the 2400 is ink costs...other than the bigger print sizes >available, of course. You're right about the ink. I'm very aware of this aspect of the 4800, and I considered getting one. But I really don't have room for one in my workroom without tearing out shelves and completely rearranging the room. Plus it weighs 90 lbs and I have a bad back, so would need help if I ever wanted to move it. I could do it if I really needed one, but you can see from my print list that I favor small prints. I don't even make very many 11x14s. This is not some newly imposed limitation, I rarely made 16x20s in the darkroom. There really is no need here for a 17" printer. >I suspect you test and experiment much more than I would, so the >lower ink costs of the 4800 really don't appear to be the factor >for me I would have presumed, simply because I doubt I'd use up the >4800 carts before they became too old to use. Well, actually most of my heavy testing on the 2400 is over and my ink/paper flow has slowed considerably. I have seriously considered refilling 2400 carts from 110ml 4800 bags, but I suspect it would go bad before it all got used. The real recourse is to switch to K4 4oz bottles if it ever becomes an issue. >Thanks! >Lee Hiers, AA4GA >"Have Dobro Will Travel" You're welcome!
