If you can get the black head unclogged it could probably do decent Black Only prints with MIS Eboni. I have done that with a 1200 and was pleased with the results. My first Epson printers were EXs. If you want to get really adventurous you could try the UT-R2 since it is a hextone ink set for a 6 color printer.
