Has anybody profiled this printer/ink/paper combination? Are you willing to share with me? I've tried all of Paul Roark's curves for other matte papers and only the "mild" sepration curve looked anywhere near reasonable, but it was way too light over 3/4 of the tone range (it gave an interesting effect, but was not at all consistent with the file image I sent it.) I've also looked at his procedure for "easy" scanner/printer profiling for the combination. Easy, it's not; at least with the curve-making tools I have for my Microtek ScanMaker4 (ScanWiz and VueScan). But then again, maybe I just don't get something about that procedure, even after spending about 6 hours on it yesterday, twisting curves this way and that almost blindly (I did get points A, M and B set, but the rest of the stepscale was crap). I get good monitor/printer output for my 2200 with color and with QTR, so it is the 1160 setup that's frustrating me, not the rest of the system and I have done work with my own partitioning curves in the past, although none of the eyeball settings were ever perfected. The cost of a spectro is not a great option for me, unless they go on sale like the Eye-1 for monitors did a while back. In the mean time. . . .
