David,
It's the same road I take with QTR curves, linearising and
profiling. Without varnish, with gloss varnish, with mat
varnish on top for the last. With QTR however there are three
steps per variety: curves, linearisation, profiling, and 9
profiles for cool, carbon and warm + the 3 finish varieties
and you will still not cover all possible settings of the
sliders with profiles in the soft proof. At least you should
have the best Dmax possible after the exercise. With PrintFIX
PRO 2.0 you have to find the best suitable paper/canvas
setting in the driver for the uncoated, mat varnished and
gloss varnish and that still doesn't guarantee the best Dmax
possible for a given canvas.
It's the photographer's intent of my customer that ends in B&W
prints on canvas, not my choice though the results are quite
nice I have to say.
I will be there.
