Hi, I just got my R1800 because things have changed and I also want to print color, which seems to be ok with epson. Now as basically a B&W printer, I also tried several settings printing some test B&W images, but not so happy with results. I've used only heawyweight matte paper so far, and epson premium profiles. This combination gives quite good results, but there still is some slight magenta cast in some tones. I also tried qtr, but that gave bad posterisations. I know people here has r1800s so if you could please tell me what are your settings and what are your experiences? There also seems to be slight metamerism, but now as time has passed and the prints are thorougly dry, it's not so bad as just printed. One thing I wonder with this printer is, that I've printed several colour and B&W prints, and the ink level indicators show still full. This is great, as my older HP would have needed already couple of carts. Bad thing is that there's no black-only option in epson driver, that would have cut the ink consumption to minimum. I'm not sure, but I remember seeing a web page saying that the japanese driver has black-only option, but wonder, if it would work with finnish winXP. thanks -matti
