Thanks Luca. I downloaded from the link the driver, and indeed there's 
black-only option, but the bad thing is, that it still uses all colours. 
I scanned a print and the colour dots are clearly visible. And the print 
was quite ok, quite cool-toned, but no bad colour casts. Next thing is 
to print a step-wedge and see what it looks like.

Epson's driver policy is something  normal mortal cannot understand.
