Perhaps a strange question in an area where everyone, including myself, is usually striving for the smoothest print possible: what are the possibilities to get a COARSER grain when printing black-only? I print on an Epson 2100, standard Epson inks, Photoshop CS2 (windows) QTR, Ehanced Matte or Phot Rag. For some images I do like the graininess when proof-printed on A6. But when printed on A4 the effect is to a large extent lost. I do understand I can add grain in Photoshop, but to me the "modern pureness" of the dithering grain has more appeal; different but comparable to the "classical pureness" of film grain. I experimented a bit with the dithering schemes in QTR but found not too much difference. Perhaps I did not find the right approach? Would it be possible to switch of the variable dot-size feature in the 2100? Other suggestions?
