Digital BW, The Print

Is there a way to change ink carts in the 2400 without running the
cleaning cycle each time? It never fails that I have one cart low and
another getting there. I change the low one, the cleaning cycle
runs and, voila, another one is low and flashing. It has to be a
vast conspiracy.

I just read that if carts are changed on the 4800 with the power off the
printer won't run the cleaning cycle when it's turned on?  Is that
possible on the 2400 and how do you move the head over to allow
access? On the 1280 you could turn the big white gear on the left a bit.
