Hi Tom; Have you tried pulling the plug right after you turn it on? If the head stops anywhere except on the parking pad, you should be able to move it manually. This works on the R1800, and they share a lot, it should at least keep the printer from doing an ink-charge cycle which eats up a lot more than just a cleaning cycle. I've taken to refilling all the carts everytime one gets low, so I avoid the domino effect caused by cleaning cycles to get the new cart printing right again.
