Hi I generally use the lightness channel method of converting to B&W. I am only printing on Kirkland paper. I have been using Costco for prints for others. When I covert pictures of lily pads, I notice the splotchyness on my monitor. I'd be interested in finding out the process you follow. Out of curiosity, have you every tried matte papers with the MIS Eboni black ink? I wonder if the "splotchiness" is as pronounced on matte as it seems to be on glossy. I'm wondering myself if my own negative scanning process isn't aggravating the issue. Although I did run across the same problem when converting an actual digital photo (very high quality) to grayscale. However, it wasn't quite as obvious as in the scanned prints. Maybe I'll try a curve to see if I can force some of the medium/dark grays to go a bit darker. --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> , "Mike Johnston" <wpajohnson@...> wrote: > > I am using a similar setup with a C86. > I also notice the splotchy areas (good word). > I think it is a partially due to the process I use to convert to B&W. > > Mike J. > > -----Original Message----- > From: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> > [mailto: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> ]On Behalf Of > typhillips73 > Sent: Sunday, October 22, 2006 7:36 PM > To: DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com <mailto:DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint%40yahoogroups.com> > Subject: [Digital BW] Can't get good results with MIS EZN on C88+ > > Hi all.
