I spoke with an HP rep that claimed he was on the GMB integration team. He was very knowledgeable in any case. I asked him, what if we want to use PM Pro. The response, summarized, was you really want to wait till measuretool can create the hexagonal patches, and we are working towards that. There were other people waiting for his attention so I did not press the issue; my take-away was that you could not feed a traditional target into the Z3100 and generate a measurement file for PM Pro. Someday I would like to confirm that. You could, of course, print and measure a target using another device, but why would you want to, was the theme. Bill Atkinson creates his targets by driving photoshop with AppleScript; I suppose that approach could be used to create the hexagonal patch target. I asked why the patches were so large and he deftly changed the subject so smoothly that I forgot to ask again; smart guy. They stressed the value of the printer profiles being contained on the drive inside the printer, and that does make good sense. I got the impression that once they get a number of these printers out and working as intended, they are willing to devote time to providing additional CM options that utilize the onboard spectro, for those users wishing to do that. If the printer generated measurement files are spectral, as opposed to LAB, that would be nice for the interim. I will be using PM Pro lot within my studio for everything, is what I ment, because it does so many things. It is possible I could use the HP internal profile creation when that machine is added, that remains to be seen, but I have other color printers to profile, black and white patches to be read, monitors to profile, etc, etc, john [Non-text portions of this message have been removed]
