Fred, I'm sure you could get a load of different advices on this question. It depends heavily on your preferences, most notably paper size and workflow. I did not dig into the type numbers in depth, but my understanding is that all printers are sold in Europe as well (I'm living in the Netherlands), though sometimes have a different type number. I myself have an Epson 2100 (US equivalent = 2200), with MIS UT3D inks and QTR. Alternatively, the UT3D set allows for a color managed icc-profile workflow, a feature that stirred quite some debate lately. Many here are very satisfied with the newer Epson R2400 and use either OEM inks and the ABW Epson driver or a slight modification of that (replacing the yellow with MIS EZW). So it all depends...
