I assume you're using View>Proof Setup>Custom ...

The profile name ending in "CC-0" means that the profile was made with the
driver set to Color Controls, but with the sliders at the default, "0"
position.

OK, this sounds like you've tried that also.

I, frankly, can't see any other setting that would cause a problem.

I assume the files you're printing are grayscale and not RGB.  The driver
should be the standard Epson driver from their disk.  The drivers in Windows
or for other OS's may not be the real thing.

Right now, nothing else comes to mind.  The R2 prints should be much
smoother than the BO prints.

Move to quarantaine

This moves the raw source file on disk only. The archive index is not changed automatically, so you still need to run a manual refresh afterward.
