Bob, With respect to the colors and where they are on the Lab scheme of things, see my cheat sheet at http://home1.gte.net/res09aij/RGB+Lab.jpg The Lab Lightness scale is the amount reflected: pure white = 100%, pure black = 0%. Google "Lab CIE" and you'll get all sorts of info.
