Another year goes by: more printers, new inks, more 3rd party inks, newer RIPs, new papers, new Photoshop-Aperture-Lightroom, new calibrators, and of course, lots of new ideas from the steadfast contributors, and occasional lurker. And here I am [admittedly a lurker] wracking my brain trying to decide just how much more effort I wish to put into perfecting a print, using not so very new technology [epson2400,cs2,eye-one] what with paper-printer-ink profiles, and after, of course, the myriad of options in Photoshop already decided on a profiled monitor. I examine the output and am satisfied, or not, and is it like the last one I printed, or shouldn’t it really not be so exactly the same. But I like it, and I could stand behind it, and I could change it if someone tells me that it is not just so... How’s that for a happy new year? Thanks to everyone for your input and lively discussions. I’m just as confused as ever, but I know that the journey continues to be an intriguing one, and I will count on you to make good choices and warn me of the pitfalls. I study, I learn, I try to make art, and when I think I know enough, I’ll teach. Good health, namasté, zai gezunt.
