I've never used a V700. But, on my 3200 the carriers for scanning film has an opening at the top that is clear. This clear area is necessary (apparently) for the scanner to recognize that it is working with film. You might look at the carriers that came with the V700 to see if this is the case with that machine. If so, you can fashion a mask that will satisfy this requirement. I have done this on the 3200. Good luck.

I appreciate in advance any thoughts on this. Some of you have suggested cutting a black paper of 1-2 mm thickness to size for a frame for the plate. Do you think a thin matboard of that thickness would work? Should it cover the entire glass surface except for the plate? Should be it matte black or reflective? (I read that about reflective somewhere sometime ago in my study of historic processes in today's world.)
Many of the plates were cut and sizes vary, but my local friend/matboard cutter would handle that.
Thanks, Nancy
