Re: Need Wide Format Printer

2007-01-05 by Steven Karafyllakis

Chris;

I recently got a 3800 and so far am very pleased with it. The K3 inks
and ABW produce excellent results with a minimum of fuss & bother. The
down side so far: At the moment we're stuck with Epson inks so it's
more expensive to run. Also, I'm finding I can't get a very deep sepia,
and I sometimes need that. Soon, however, I expect Roy Harrington to
release a QTR that supports it, at which point I can go as deep as I
like.

Your other choice is a used or refurbed 4000, which you could convert
to some multi-flavored B&W solution. It is also an excellent printer,
though a refurb can cost as much as a new 3800. The advantage would be
having refillable carts and MIS inks now, which might save you some
money.
