regarding gallery lighting, i notice many galleries use halogen lamps. even in the museums. the color temperature seem to be on the warm side, but not as warm as our common household lights. i bought the verilux natural spectrum daylight fold-away desk lamp from the sharper image. to my eyes, it seems to match my monitor's native color temperature, so i was able to proof my prints against my monitor and the other way around. using this as my base viewing temperature, i then would view it under halogen light to give me an idea how my print will appear under similar lighting. as long as the difference is not so dramatically different or so different that it ruins the look of the print, then it's good for me. there are other options that is suppose to be more accurate because you can adjust the brightness and the temperature (i think. i'm not sure). for example, the print viewing station reviewed at http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/accessories/ pdv-3d.shtml. this is not in my budget for now, but eventually this is what i'll be getting. meanwhile i think the verilux lamp does the job adequately for me. hope this was helpful. dan --- In DigitalBlackandWhiteThePrint@yahoogroups.com, "michael3442" <michael3442@...> wrote: > > I'm plugging away at learning BO printing with my 2200 w.
